Learning Together, Growing Together. This is our fundamental belief here at KinderGarden House.

KinderGarden House believes that the outdoors and nature have so much to teach and offer the children. We utilize all our green space and promote organic gardening in our backyard... and what’s a backyard without butterflies! Butterflies go through three unique stages and like children they come in all different shapes, sizes and colours. One thing is for sure, that when they blossom, they're hard to go unnoticed! The three classrooms at KinderGarden House are named after the life cycle of a butterfly; the caterpillar room, the cocoon room and the butterfly room. Like a butterfly, your children will enter our daycare at their youngest and most delicate stage and by their completion, just like butterfly; they will have developed into confident individuals ready to tackle the new obstacles of Elementary school!

At this stage, children experience several milestones rapidly. They begin imitating, make-believe playing and developing a stronger sense of character. Much like a caterpillar, this makes them so interesting to watch. They move around slowly examining their surroundings, fearless but somewhat hesitant.

In the Caterpillar room, children’s vocabulary will become clearer, “please” and “thank you’s” are more frequent. Small unsure steps become running. Toddlers become increasingly more capable of following simple two-step requests around the classroom; for example: closing a book and placing it on a bookshelf. In the caterpillar room, toilet training and developing language will be a priority. Educators will provide each child with the appropriate foundation, encouragement and safety needed to accomplish these milestones.

When the Cocoon is ready, it transforms into a magical butterfly. The butterfly emerges with many stripes, a beautiful array of colors and full of life, ready to explore the outside world. Much like a butterfly at this age, you will see your children develop into their own confident personalities, sociable and extremely curious.

Children will usually enter the room quiet and shy but anxiously awaiting what is coming next. Our Butterflies are now assertive, expressing their feelings to their peers and their educators. In the butterfly room; children are being introduced to academic learning, working in teams, and growing and transitioning together. Upon graduation, the children will have a mastery of the alphabet and the ability to write their name. As they prepare to leave KinderGarden House, they will take everything they have been taught and will be ready to now embark on their new exciting journey…school!

Cocoons are the intermediate stage of a butterflies’ life whereby great changes and transformations are made. At this age, children continue to develop and accomplish more milestones. Children become aware of their own feelings and also the feelings of others. At this stage children are increasingly more secure in their surroundings and with their bodies as they begin to crave independence. Although they are now “big boys” and “big girls” they still crave the attention and safety net their educators provide.  In the Cocoon classroom, skills such as letter identification, counting from 1 to 10, and developing their independence by learning to get dressed on their own will be cultivated. The educators help each child develop a greater sense of confidence and inclusion through age appropriate topic discussions, role playing, outdoor gardening and exploring.
